Butchering question- Why do they break their own wings?

Any time they flap around violently like that, banging into each other or whatever else, wings are going to break or dislocate. It's a fragile and little used bone/joint compared to the weight of the chicken flopping on it. I find that cones help a lot and keep your birds intact, compared to almost EVERY bird that you do a chop and drop to will have broken wings, but sometimes the plucker will break wings too, so it's not always avoidable.

We make cones out of scrap cardboard and duct tape, but I saw on here a man use an orange traffic cone and it worked well. I might pick one up if I see one laying around. Cones are much better than flapping chickens.
