That's a lot!
At least half will be male and I plan to keep just one or two of the BCM cockerels and one Ameraucana.
And of course the females.
12 SR black Ameraucana coming. True SR.
What does SR mean?

The breeder I got my Ameraucana hatching eggs from sent me three different blood lines: true American (imported), Turkish ( imported) and Ukrainian ( imported).

At first, the parcel was misdirected by our postal service DHL and went all the way down south to Munich which is the opposite direction. It took several more days to be delivered and the air cells were horribly displaced, saddled etc.

But I am pleased to have been able to hatch 6 out of 9 fertile eggs. I think I might name the remaining cockerel Odysseus = Ody

How is your DH doing these days, LF?
He is having really good, good and not so good days, but we are still working on it and adjusting.
The results of his last three follow-up appointments were encouraging.

Thanks for asking.

That is what we got since Saturday, and very chilly again. But weather forecast has us hoping for some much needed warmth, the chicks need sun! ☀️
....your chicks and I are all need the sun!

I so badly needed sunshine as I have no energy physically, mentally and emotionally. I am finding it is harder to exist in this weather.

If I don't have chickens, I would not move at all.

I am having a jumble cup of tea this morning. It is cold so big cup of tea does the job of warming up the system.

A few weeks back I spend 3/4 hours in the shopping centre, it was busy there and the next day I cough, running nose and the general feeling of sickness. I must have got something at the shopping centre.

Now that we are having endless rain that fill up the ocean, I would like to get out of the house and the only place to go is the shopping centre. Due what I got at the shopping centre a few weeks back, I decided moping around at home instead.

I am living in the state that is known ....or rather was known for "Beautiful one day perfect the next", our state also known as The Sunshine State.......... that is now obsoleted.

The planet earth's weather has significantly changed these last few years. More flooding and house insurance is skyrocketting.

My friend's mother lives in her house forever and last year it flooded twice. The insurance rebuild it twice and her new premium insurance cost is $12,000.00 per year. That is the only company that will insure her house, there are no other insurance companies will do it.

In the States, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is the only way to get flood insurance. Lots of insurance brokers offer flood policies but FEMA backs all of them.

Flood damage is categorized as: affected, minor, major and destroyed. If a property has had a flood claim, no matter how much, it gets one strike. After three strikes, its out. FEMA will no longer pay claims against it unless the property is mitigated, ie: it is raised up out of the flood zone OR FEMA buys the property as green space, the house is demolished and the property can never have a habitable structure put on it again. If you raise it, you have a house sitting on top of a one story high concrete foundation with weep vents so water can flow in and back out to prevent water pressure from collapsing the foundation. The services (electric/hot water/heat) will all be up in the house, not down in the foundation.

When I bought my first home, it was in a flood Zone B. In 2004 it flooded the basement up to the middle of the first floor floor joists, taking out the electric panel, water heater, furnace, washer and dryer and everything we had down in the basement. It was categorized as major damage. In 2011, the water came up another 17" or so from the 2004 flood and flooded 1 foot into the main floor (ranch, so it got the whole house). The house was considered "destroyed" because the definition is that the house is uninhabitable and/or it will cost more than 50% the value of the house to repair it.

Dave and I repaired it for $20,000, rented it out for several years then when the market attitude towards flood properties shifted, I listed and it sold for asking price in 7 days. I took the money and ran like hell!

If the new owners get flooded and make a claim, that is the last time FEMA will pay to repair that house. It will be strike 3.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee! It is frosty out there.
Another long day of shopping and chores yesterday, but it all went smoothly. Yes, she was missing companionship for sure. We had a nice lunch and I even brought MORF a sandwich to eat for dinner on our way back home.
I think my brother with diabetes will be moving into a care situation but I don't think he is okay with that...Reality has a funny way of hiding from him...He is down one big toe and soon to lose the foot on the other side. He thinks he will move back in to his apt? A non-handicapped accessible one at that?
I now need to go to TX and clean his apt yet again, figure out what in tarnation is going to happen next, and get something figured out.
All on my dollar, mind you... and by myself. Can we say, "Good Times to be had!"
The BIG BULL moose cruised by to have a snack and scare the poor cat inside of the house. Kitty bolted for safety when it saw the monster lurking in the window! LOL! :lau
Enjoy the day, Cafe! Stay safe!

I've been waging a battle against the English sparrows. I keep tweaking the bird screen. On one of my trips back to the run, I heard my boy crow. Three times! Music to my ears.
He hasn't crowed in over a week. I have obviously made him feel better with all the work I've been doing on him. I still have my doubts he'll make a full recovery but I'm doing everything I can for him. When I heard that first crow I literally stopped in my tracks as my hand flew to my chest and a big goofy grin swept across my face!
