First off, the *fine print* as noted by MP on her previous block swap thread.

This swap is not endorsed by BYC (owner, website, staff, etc.). The BYC Staff is not responsible and will not mediate if something goes "wrong" or a deal goes "bad". If you choose to participate in a swap, it is best to know who you are swapping with and not to swap more than you can afford to lose.

The BYC Staff is sensitive because of past swaps. We want our members to feel comfortable having fun with these and other social interactions, but please keep in mind that there were issues with some organizers and swappers bailing in the past.

Like any other interaction: Have fun, but be careful and safe!"

Here is a fantastic description of a Magic Yarn Ball:

Guidelines:
Inside your MYB should be 12 prizes, of which 2-3 of them should be made by you. The handmade things can be crochet, knit, sewn, woodwork, beaded, cooking...anything made by you that you feel your partner would like. Feel free to exceed these guidelines, but these should be used as minimums...but yet, don't go overboard, either.

The yarn you use for your MYB should be AT LEAST 4 ounces or 200 yards. Which ever is most. This way everyone should get the same quantity of yarn.

If you join this swap, please copy the following questionnaire, put it in your reply and answer the questions about yourself. This way, your swap partner will know more about you and what to include in your MYB.

Please post that you are *in* and then:

1. BYC name:

2. Are you willing to ship outside of the US if needed?

3. What theme would you like for your MYB?

4. Preferred yarn type(s)? (Ex: wool, cotton, bamboo, acrylic, mixed fibers)

5. Do you spin?

6. Any yarn or other allergies?

7. Any cats or other common allergens INSIDE your home?

8. Give a brief summary of yourself. Likes/dislikes, etc.

9. Do you knit, crochet or both??

HERE'S A SLIGHT CHANGE:

Please do not send your address until signups are closed. Once signups are closed, I will post for everyone to send me their address at the same time, so I don't lose them in the meantime. Be sure to watch around signup close time for the request post to be on this thread.

DATES:
Signup Deadline: April 18, 2009
Partner Names will be posted: No later than April 20, 2009
Packages to be mailed: May 7-9, 2009

Packages are REQUIRED to be mailed via Priority Mail and also send with delivery confirmation. Shipping should run you around $5.00-$6.00 or so, within the US.

If you have any questions, please post to this thread and I'll get them answered asap!

Remember this is a BYC MYB swap...so be assured pretty much any partner will like chicken-y things

2. Are you willing to ship outside of the US if needed? Sure

3. What theme would you like for your MYB? The one I will make or the one I will recieve? Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice fits me to a T, but I'd love to make a Beach themed one since I live in RI The Ocean State!

4. Preferred yarn type(s)? (Ex: wool, cotton, bamboo, acrylic, mixed fibers)
Anything but acrylic or nylon please.

5. Do you spin?
Yes!

6. Any yarn or other allergies?
Nope.

7. Any cats or other common allergens INSIDE your home?
4 indoor cats, 2 dogs. No smokers.

8. Give a brief summary of yourself. Likes/dislikes, etc.
Crazy obsessed knitter and yarn hoarder. Just started spinning with a drop spindle, LOVE it! Now I'm saving my Newfoundlands fur for spinning! I'm not too crazy about yarn that is man made material but every now and then I love a little blingy yarn or fuzzy yarn. I love wooden knitting needles.
I would love to get a pattern with my magic yarn ball, just for the record! I like to think I'm pretty feminine, I do wear some make-up and love lip balm and lotions, etc. I love animals of all kinds, cooking, gardening, crafts of most kinds, etc. I collect pretty rocks, seriously I have them everywhere. I love candles, I burn tarts at home too. I'm easy to please. I love trinkets and shiney stuff. My favorite colors are any purples, dark/bright pinks (no baby pink, ick), and turquoise blues.

This is gonna be so much fun!

*Holy cricket, did you see how many times I said the word LOVE?! Can you tell I'm eggcited??*

I'm pretty easy. I love chickens, sunflowers and anything self-sufficient related. I'm old-fashioned and love antiques and old things. I don't wear make up and love chapstick! I hang around most days in t-shirts and jeans, sweats or shorts. I have 3 dogs and 3 kids (see my siggy) and many chickens. We recently bought 5.4 acres to start our farm. My dh is Asst Mgr at our local Tractor Supply Company. I love old fashioned tv series (Little House, Waltons, etc) and hope to someday live a similar life. Anything else?? Just ask.

Sorry to do this, but due to financial considerations I'm going to have to sit this one out. If DBF sells the electric car in time, I'll sign back up.

Hmmmm just thought of something... If we have to wait until April 20th to find out who our partner is, how will we have enough time to gather the things needed for the theme they want? Is that how this works?
I think I'm confused
hu.gif

Are we writing on the form what theme we'd like to recieve or which one we'd like to make?

Oooooo I already have some reallllly nice yarn for my ball too!
