I made a fancy fruit salad for an event today and have a bowl of peelings. I scanned some of the posts here on what chickens could eat, but didn't see these. I know there are some things we eat, but that chickens shouldn't and I don't want to give them something that wouldn't be good for them.

Thanks for any help.

They'll be fine-if you can eat it they can eat it. Not sure they'll find any of those peels palitable though. I doubt that they will.

Here's how I look at things mentioned about what to feed the chickens & discussed over & over at BYC. You read constantly about potatoes, onions, cat food etc. I just don't feed them this stuff its that easy. There's so many things you can feed them why worry about it. In all honesty all they really need is a good feed depending on their age might be grower till they start laying then simply lay pellets after they start laying plus some greens your done.
If I have to think about what I'm fixin to feed the chickens I don't feed it to them.

The peels themselves should be fine to feed. Just be aware if they are not organic that the peels are where pesticides tend to accumulate on fruits, especially citrus. It's up to you how careful you want to be with pesticides.

Besides avocado, don't feed them avocado. bad bad. bad for dogs too. Somehow it doesn't poison us though.
