Can Silkies be large size?

I have a 12 week old White Silkie that is huge. It is almost as big as my 10 month old Turken and larger than my Silver laced Wyandotte of the same age. I know it does not comform to silkie standards due to its comb being more like a single comb. Was told it is a purebred silkie. Not sure of the sex yet. I just cant get over the size because at the farm rescue I volunteer at we have a black silkie roo and he is bantam size. Is there such thing as a standard size Silkie?

There are also large breed silkies recognized in other continents like Europe, none recognized here though, he is probably the result of overbreeding bad lines, where did you get him?

Came to us as a owner surrender as a chick they said from a breeder here so I imagine probably right about the bad genes. Sweet bird, hoping its a hen but have gut feeling its a roo.

Our Silkie rooster is pretty large for a Silkie. He is about the same size as our smaller Easter Egger girls. He is not as big as our Orpingtons or BCM but definitely much bigger than our bantams and Silkie girl.

In the British standards we have both Large Fowl Silkies and Bantam Silkies (there is also 'regular' Silkies that are in between and don't fit either class).

Bantam are around half the size of your standard Chicken whereas the Large Fowl are pretty big.

At my last show I saw a Large Fowl Silkie Cockerel that was the same size as my Large Fowl Light Sussex cockerel. I never knew Silkies could be so big.

Due to where you are located, I believe there is mainly just Silkie Bantams were you live, so your birds size could be due to cross breeding/poor breeding.

Regardless, I still think he is lovely!

I did notice its not as compact as most silkies I have seen and it doesn't have the pouf on the head, or the walnut comb. Now my problem is hopefully its not a roo. It does have some hard tall feathers jetting out and sometimes stands tall but it will run to my rooster when he is tidbitting and will take the food with no aggression. My rooster is the size of a pigeon and if this oversized silkie is a roo than that's bad news for my little guy.
