Can Someone Interpret a Necropsy Report?

I don't think you have anything to feel guilty about. She just couldn't fight those infections off, with the cancer taking her. It sounds like you were extremely careful in how you took care of her. I don't think there was anything else you could have done or done differently. She was very lucky to have you caring for her and loving her. Sometimes, in the end, that's the best you can give and it means everything.

As others have said, the primary cause of death was cancer. The cancer weakened her immune system to the point that she was no longr resistant to the organisms that caused the pneumonia. There is little chance that anything you did hastened her death.

Thank you for the comforting words. i had suspected cancer due to the way she was wasting away. Poor little thing. i've lost several chickens to cancer. Unfortunately, you don't know for sure until you have a necropsy.

i have a 14 year old cat who has terminal cancer right now. Our vet said there is nothing to do but make him comfortable with pain meds. It's such a hard thing to watch a beloved pet not feel good, get skinnier and weaker. i realize intellectually that it is just the circle of life and that we all leave here eventually. Just wish we could bypass the suffering.
