I just went to the feed store to pick up what I thought were Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. When I arrived I was informed that they were actually Blue Wyandottes. I decided to take a chance and brought some home, but when I came home and looked on the internet, there was almost no references to Blue Wyandottes except for the many breeding conversations of mating blue to X to get Y. I am not a breeder and will just have the hens for eggs and a hobby flock. I am curios though, will the blue have lacing or just remain entirely blue? Also, why are there so few mentions and even fewer pictures of just Blue Wyandottes? Are they rare, are they not desirable for some reason, any problems with them laying eggs or any other traits I should know about? Are they just like any other Wyandotte other than the obvious solid blue color? The chicks seem healthy and look nice, but I have no idea what to expect in about a year as far as the adult hen. Anyone have any experience with these or know anything about them. I would love to get more information. Thanks

They will be just like any other Wyandotte, colour is different than a red laced blue, but still the same bird. Here a pretty good representation of a blue Wyandotte I just pulled from Google ^^

Thanks so much for the response and picture. One more question, I love the blue lacing and hope it appears on my birds. Will I know from the first or early emersion of feathers if my chicks will develop lacing like the one in the picture
instead of just being an even colored blue all over?

Depends, they may develop it after a molt, right away or not at all...

Well it's not a problem, I am keeping them regardless, but I could not help but wonder what the future might hold for my girls and me. Would be cool if they were laced, I like that look.

Hi i was curious about what your blue Wyandotte chicks look like now. I purchased 2 "blue laced red Wyandottes" from my local murdoch's but it's been about 8 weeks now and they don't have any red or much lacing either, I'm thinking either i got Blue Wyandottes or blue Ameraucanas

I bought what I was told were blue laced red wyandottes. As they grow, there is no red anywhere. But I saw that there were Blue wyandottes. However, mine have black legs like the Andalusian blues. Now I am confused!! I am not sure what I have. They have not developed the combs yet so that may be a clue later. Any ideas out there about what I do have would be appreciated!!

Do you have any pictures?
I have I feeling you're in the same boat as me, I also bought what I thought were blue laced red Wyandottes b/c that's what they labeled them as but mine are definitely blues
They are gorgeous though

What color are the legs on yours? Mine have black legs, which is why I was thinking Andalusians....
