We have a big bag of Carefresh bedding left after our hamster passed.

I was wondering if I could use this for the chicks so it doesn't go to waste. Would it hurt them if they accidentally ate some of it? Thanks !

What is it made out of?
ETA - if it is the Basic bedding that looks like it would be OK to use

Chicks are small animals. At least what I could see from their website I don't see any reason not to use it with chicks. I prefer fresh shavings myself, but if I already had the stuff on hand I'd probably use it.

how did that carefresh work for your chicks ?did u use it or not back in 2/11? our vet is recommending getting some but it is so expensive, I am trying to find where i can buy in bulk also trying to gather info on this product so if u remember anything about the product please advise, thanks

I just started using a similar product by Kaytee yesterday. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...=1344163815&catargetid=1580815770&cagpspn=pla

I would of went with the natural colored ones by Carefresh but figure I'll try it in white so it'll be easier to spot their droppings and hopefully with it being white the chickens wouldn't pick on it. I don't have alot of birds so it's not too bad on the wallet for me and these do expand quite a bit. We'll have to wait and see if how the chickens do in it within the next couple of weeks

lol these type of beddings are just not meant for chickens. Work well when you first put it in but just after a few days it got more dusty than any other type of beddings I have tried.
