Chick Hatched with Yolk and blood

I think the chick is doing worse, I hope it's just that they're tired, but I doubt it. They're stumbling around with their head falling down and eyes closed. I don't know if they're going to live, the chick had some very sticky poop on their rear that I wiped up and then rubbed olive oil on the vent. I decided since they're probably not going to live, I'm forgoing putting the splint on, so I don't upset them if these are their final hours...
you say they, their , is there more then one chick ? Did you help it hatch and did the inside membrane come out w/ the chick ? I believe you to have a humidity issue w/ your incubator causing sticky chicks and that is not yolk but intestines I am seeing. You can see the blood veins that run through them. Normally it is a kindness to cull chicks born like this. Im very sorry for the failed hatch.

No just one chick(I was just using the singular they/them pronouns sorry if I sounded confusing.). The chick got stuck in the egg at the very end and had to be gently pulled out, I wasn't there for the hatching so all I know is what my mother has told me. We had twelve eggs but only the one hatched. The people we got them from(who bulk buy eggs for 4H projects) said that they got them from a not so good place this year and didn't have high hopes for the eggs even being fertilized. We did have humidity problems which were a struggle to fix, we have a cheap incubator and have definitely learned our lesson with that and will buy a nice one if we try to hatch chicks again. That being said the chick just passed away, they didn't seem to be in much pain just tired. Hopefully next time things will go better.

Hatching can be loads of fun. I hope you do consider it again. Im sorry for your loss. :hugs

When the chick was stuck your mom pulled the membrane out along w/ the umbilical. Easy mistake especially for a first time. I did it myself. There may not be anything wrong with the incubator and we have tons of learning threads here on hatching. My favorite will always be by Sally Sunshine. Maybe look them up sometime. They teach you all about the humidity and what you can do to make it right. Good luck on your next batch if you do decide to make another run for it.
