I want to buy a book about chicken diseases/ illnesses, parasites, and first aid. One or two that thoroughly explain each, their symptoms, and how to treat. If it also provided treatment methods using OTC meds, that would be great! I recently ran into a situation where I needed a veterinarian but couldn't find one locally who would see her. It was the first time I was dealing with something I didn't know how to treat. I don't want that to happen again.

I've searched my public library and my Barnes and Noble store. Barnes and Noble has nothing I'm looking for in stock. I found only one book at my library.
It's kind of hard to compare to other books when there's only one. So now I need recommendations!

Does anyone have any recommendations?

This is of interest to me. I recently had a bird die and I'm pretty upset with myself. I did the best I could but regret using youtube like I did to diagnose and treat. I don't know that I aspirated her (she had sour crop) but I feel guilty I might have as she died a day later after draining her crop. In any case an authoritative book by a legitamate expert with credetials is what I'm after.

I second Shadrach's recommendation.

Further, in some countries, e.g. the UK, there is something called Inter-Library Loans (ILL), so if you discover online the existence of a book that you'd like to borrow, but your local library does not have it, ask the staff there, and they may be able to get it for you using the ILL system or equivalent.

There is also an extensive market in second hand books, where good books can be obtained for pennies, Abebooks, for example.
