Chicken pecking at food and missing.

Hi there,
I have a one year old buff Orpington hen who seems to be feeling unwell. I noticed a couple days ago she started looking sick. Her tail down, pale face and generally not as happy to see me as she normally is. I firstly suspected that she was just going through a rough moult but im not sure. A few months ago I noticed poop with white rice like worms in it. I didn’t think too much of it and decided to give AVC and see if anyone was feeling unwell. So since that happened I thought maybe she had worms but I haven’t seen worms in her poop. I did give her a dose of Equimax today, just because the signs point towards tapeworms. But now, she pecks at her food and misses. Apparently it’s to do with her depth perception? She thinks everything is closer than it is and she misses food but always seems to find water. She is very lethargic and sleepy. She doesn’t seem to eat too much but I have been giving her lots of attention and making sure she eats. Her poop is green and watery which is concerning. I’m not sure what this is but I’ve been giving her eggs and I hope she gets better since she ate lots this afternoon and I’ve dewormed her but if anyone could help that’s be awesome.
I should add two times now I’ve found her in the nesting box sleeping, so I don’t know if this is an egg issue but the whole eye thing throws me off. I’ve given her calcium tablets yesterday and the day before but didn’t know if I could combine that with the dewormer today. Thanks.

What do you feed, including treats?

If she's having a hard time with aim, try offering vitamin therapy to see if that helps. 400IU Vitamin E along with 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily. Give her a little egg daily to help with the uptake of E.

Do you notice any changes in her eyes, any injury, pus, change in color?

Provide a wide and deep bowl for her feed so she will not have to take precise aim to feed herself.

Did you check her lowe belly for any kind of swelling? When died she last lay an egg?

Suffering from a tapeworm infestation will leave the bird deprived of vital nutrients so her vision might improve some time after deworming and recuperation.

Hi thank you so much for the reply.
I cut a vitamin e capsule today with a knife and tried getting her to drink it, but I’m wondering if there’s an easier way?
I will follow up with the Equimax.
I feed her corn and a little bit of feed. I have been trying to give her eggs and she ate some the day before but had no interest today. She is just sleeping even while standing up. I hope the pictures have loaded but the first picture is her poop before deworming and if you zoom in you can tell it looks stringy but when I used a stick to check if it was worms it just seemed like liquid. The second poop picture is this morning after I made sure to get her to eat last night. It looks much better. The other picture is her I don’t see any pus or injury or even color change in her eye. However her one eye the right one she keeps shut as of this morning.

Hi, I try putting her food on a plate, but the only way she will eat is if I hand feed her morning and night with my hand very close to her face. I noticed today that she only will eat today with her neck twisted to the left. So I’m thinking maybe it’s wry neck? I’m not sure. But if I put her food on the ground in a plate she tries so hard to peck but she is too far away and when I put the plate a little higher she simply stops trying. I haven’t checked her belly for swelling, the last she laid an egg was a while away maybe 2 weeks or more?

Her poop is dark green which is a sign of not eating enough and bile, and her yellow urates could be from bile and liver problems. That could happen with reproductive problems, cancer, water belly or fatty liver disease. Are her eyes looking normal to you, with normal colored irises, and are the pupils round and equal? Is there any cloudiness in either eye? Pictures of her eyes and how she holds her neck could help. What are you feeding her?

Her pupils are round and the dont seem cloudy. I can try and get more photos tmr. Her eyes honestly look like every other day except for her keeping one shut. I am feeding her corn and feed. I try to give egg and sometimes she eats it but today she did not want to.

What did the worms look like?

Roundworms? Were they moving?

What did the worms look like?

I didn’t see any worms which is why I thought it was weird. The last time one chicken had poop in the coop with worms it looked like the ones with the tiny white worms. She didn’t want to eat anything at all this morning but she ate a few peanuts and one bite of corn. I’m not sure what to do if she doesn’t eat. I tried spoon feeding her egg yolk mixed with one vitamin e tablet but she only got a little bit in.

The first picture is her this morning she is just standing still, that’s how she is everytime I see her. But I believe she did lay an egg today so that’s a plus? The second picture is how she holds her neck when she goes to eat something. Bht she twists it a lot more now.
