Has anyone found anything fun for their chickens to “play” with?

My flock is 9 months old, and they already decided to stay in their coop to avoid the snow, wind and bitter cold- even with a shoveled path- and we will have at least 3 more months of this weather to go.

When they were younger they liked to kick around or peck paper towel rolls, but now they are over that. I gave them some shredded paper, but they just ate it. I will try making a flock block over the weekend, but I’m looking also for some non-food entertainment ideas....

I have a wild bird suet cake feeder hanging in the run. I fill it with sliced apples or greens a couple times a week and the chickens seem to enjoy that as a special treat/thing to do.

I know some people will hang a head of cabbage for their birds to peck at, but mine don't seem to care for it.

I’ve read (in a few different places) building a jungle gym maybe out of branches would help keep them busy. Definitely a dust bath too. Logs to jump on etc
