Chickens attacked , killed and mauled by neighbors dog-

The Scarlett oil suggested by my sweet, wildlife rehabber friend seems to be quickly helping (vs the silver sulfadizine that can lower WBC and slow wound closure per several studies). Today Maisie jumped out of her bin and wanted her treats. No 👃 from her wound just the smell of the oil. So this is where they are for today . 💞
(Giving her a little air break before covering her again and thank goodness I stay on top of my house and natural air purifiers lol)

This is today. No bad smell , all the blood color is the scarlet oil. Near her tail looks like it's closing but not sure if the large wound looks infected.
Today I did the poultry Vetrcyn 3xs, Scarlet oil 3xs and Neosporin 2xs. Plus she got scrambled eggs with fresh garlic, turmeric and a mix of high vit c fresh herbs . Hope she looks like she is improving. Ive had them for 4yrs and never dealt with an injury like this.

Pic of her wound and her looking outside while our Easter egger (one unharmed) was out back with my husband. I have to keep my E.E inside with my orpington or she will not eat much and gets stressed. Plus I rather not leave outside one lonely chicken 😕

I don't know what those are.

Are they eggs or could they be some type of grains that have gotten wet and swelled up? Have you been feeding any type of scratch or treats with seeds?

How long do you all think on average should it take for her wound to close? I'm starting to feel 😜 and like they will never get back out again and right now they are inside as it's way too hot in my garage. My E.E just wants to hang with us like a dog, found out from my daughter that when my husband and I leave for the store her and my orpington sqwauk. I'm sure soon my orpington will want to fly out of the pen area I have set up in our room too. 😩 I try to let my E.E out in my backyard for little bit so she can dust bathed and get some light but all she does is make a crying sound while pacing to come back in. Will they need to be taught to go in their coop again at night vs inside my room? I just didn't need added stress too 😕 I know 💩 happens but...

3xs daily
*Veticyrn Poultry spray
*Neosporin
*Scarlett oil

**Kept covered with a bandana tied lightly around her. Still breathable and she is so used to it on she doesn't try to take it off but if it is off she eats the Neosporin etc.

It's going to take time for this to heal. I'm sure it feels like a long time already, but it's only been a week or so. I think it looks to be healing o.k. but this is a process, so if you read up on some of the similar threads as in Post#4 you can get a basic timeline. There's a lot of factors when it comes to healing so everyone's timeline will be a bit different.

It can be a challenge when having to keep them inside while healing. Do you have a spare room where you can set up a playpen or even make a fort from a table to help contain them during times you don't want them to roam about? (Table fort below)

They can definitely become attached and get used to the household routine. Likely when the time comes, and both girls can go back outside together, they will go into their coop at night. You may find you have to put them in the coop for a few nights, but they will adapt back fairly easily.

The EE just wants to be with her friend or others, she doesn't want to be by herself. Chickens are flock animals, so they prefer to have company.
