Hello all!
This morning I went to the coop to let the girls out, and my normally peppy, clingy EE was seeming "off". She was slow to the feeder, and wasn't attached to my hip like normal. She did show interest in breakfast, but after just went and sat quietly under a tree by herself. Noticing this isn't like her, I went to investigate. She stood when I got to her, but laid back down shortly after. I decided to isolate her. She's currently in her own pen in the barn, I provided her with some scrambled egg and rooster booster water. Once I had her isolated, I noticed she seemed to puff her feathers, take a penguin stance when she stands, and had clear, watery liquid coming from her vent. She passes it voluntarily as feces, and it also seems to just drip freely. She doesn't feel bloated or abnormally squishy, and I dont feel any egg stuck, either. I believe she laid an egg this morning, but I do have 2 other EE hens, so I'm not 100% sure. Thanks in advance for reading, and for any advice - please ask questions if more info is needed.

I would keep her isolated, monitor her eating, drinking and droppings. Also check her crop to see if it's empty, full, hard, soft & squishy, etc. Check it again first thing in the morning before she has access to food and water, it should be empty then. The penguin stance suggests a reproductive problem of some kind. If they are egg bound then they can't usually pass droppings. It could also be a soft shelled or shell-less egg, those can be really hard to pass and make them feel awful. For that I would give a calcium citrate +D once a day. That will help with contractions if she's trying to pass one. If you don't have that then calcium in another form will help too, even a couple of Tums if that's what you have, the citrate +D is just faster absorbed. Keep her in a warm, quiet place, so she can relax. And see if she lays.

Thank you! She seemed to be feeling a little better this evening, perked up a little bit, and her droppings had some color and consistency. Still runny, but not like water like they were earlier in the day. She stood up when she saw me, no penguin stance, and explored a bit when I freshened her bedding. Her crop has seemed normal, and she has continued to eat and drink, but I will check again in the morning, and add calcium. Thanks, again!
