Cockerel or Pullet

I hatched this BCM Black Copper Maran he is a solid black with feathered legs with two other Buff Orpington. I’m pretty certain it’s a rooster now at 7 weeks old with its long tail compared to other two. Any confirmations out there?

My BCM (black and blue) at 5.5 weeks old. The two boys are obvious. I did notice that the boys seemed to have heavier foot feathering than the females.

Given the amount of comb and wattle development, you might have a boy, but it is less than the development at our males at a younger age, so maybe wait a bit longer if you can.

It’s looking like he’s definitely a rooster. My next question is if he’s a rooster. Is it possible he will be a solid black rooster or turn out to be like his dad?

Yes I definitely want to wait to see his if his color will be different than his father’s.

So, the chick is a mix? The father is not the correct feather coloring to be a Black Copper Maran.
