Hello all

I wanted a space to document our new chick’s journey

We’ve recently adopted Cookie. She’s currently 12 days old. We aren’t sure of her breed. We are pretty sure of her sex (we hope).

It’s a weird story on how we adopted Cookie...

We live in a tiny village and our neighbours have a very friendly 18 month old Hen called Red. Red has been hanging out with us for weeks and even sleeping on our sofa in the evenings! My children (and myself) have grown so close to her.

Disaster struck last week when Red was attacked. We thought we had lost her so my husband agreed that we could have a little chick.

Well, it turns out that Red is okay. Even better our neighbours have said we can adopt her..

So now we have a lovely Hen and a baby chick to nurture. We are so excited.

Cookie spending time with Mum... Her favourite place seems to be on my chest where she can see what’s going on. She seems to be cheeping constantly at the moment and stops as soon as I pick her up. I’m guessing she wants lots of love. I don’t mind of course

Aw, that is just to adorable. Though I know one reason why she may like the chest. Because thats where much of the warmth is.
