Coop ideas for new Quail parents

I just read something about DE that I did not know. You can use too much.
I used to reach a strainer into the DE and "dust" my chicken's pine shavings in their coop. Like putting flour on a cutting board. Not thick, but it was a good coating.
But I recently read that too much can cause respiratory problems. It makes me wonder if I was using too much. Or should have raked it in.

Yes I have. I was actually planning on doing that this week and using a mixture of sweet pdz and food grade diatomaceous earth to help protect them from mites and other unwanted pests.
Don't use more than a tsp or so of DE. Too much can irritate their lungs if they breathe it in. Plain old garden dirt works quite well.

I use Ad-Block Plus and don't see any ads on the Rumble link.

I have an ad blocker, but I guess it doesn't work as well as everyone else's.

If it was on YT I wouldn't see the commercials...

Plus I've always been a big believer in adding to a forum's content.

Hello all! New Quail parents here! We have three baby Jumbo Coturnix quail. They are still in a brooder with a heat lamp, but, we are in need of coop ideas! For further information, we live in Central Louisiana, so it does get hot. We absolutely can accommodate….anything to ensure these babies are comfortable and thriving. I did see that a rabbit hutch is a good coop option, but would love to hear the input of the experts. Please share your set-ups or give any advice to keep these babies healthy and happy! Many thanks!

P.s. this is the best picture I could get, they sure are fast moving.
My husband got a lot of ideas from the coturnix corner YouTube channel for easy to clean cages, but they’re for inside a shed or garage. I’m not sure if he has ideas for an outdoor version- it gets super hot here in MN also in summer and plenty of storms usually too.

I do a light dusting on their shavings and mix it well so it’s not so concentrated. I also mix some in their feed. Not much but some. I want to make sure they are protected inside and out from bugs and worms.

Same here. Except for the mixing part.
I had thought the chickens would scratch it into the deep litter.
