My first Quail. A mini blog.

No hatchings overnight :(
Today is day 19.

The two in the brooder were laying by one another and seemed fine.

It's about time to go check again. I'm just taking a break from putting in a new fridge.

I think I saw someone say theirs hatched on day 20. I can't recall if they had some hatch earlier.

Late hatches usually happen when the temperature in the incubator was a bit low.

Thanks.
Mine was perfect. 99.5 give or take 0.2.
And that is checking my Govee against a meat thermometer and another Govee.
Humidity was within 5% of what most everyone suggests. Right now, since lockdown, it's reading 75%. Which is 8-10% high of what the Govees read.

I washed my hands before candling...
Handled the eggs gently, placing them all on a folded towel then candled them all. Although like I mentioned, I held the eggs opposite of the shorts you posted. I held the egg on top of the flashlight. So the air sac was on the bottom briefly.

I've been running everything over in my mind.

And I've never seen one egg move. Not like I see other people saying. Mine have always just layed there still.
I never see any that pipped or zipped and then stopped. My eggs look like the day I put them in. Including just now when I looked.

Have you candled?

I'd candle again to see if they're still alive.

How do I tell? Do they move when the light hits them?

I noticed quite a few eggs have white spots like I showed above. Some several. As if something was trying to pip but couldn't break through.

There should be movement. If it looks like it's stuck to the side with no movement, it's dead. If it's alive, you should see some movement, even if it's just a tiny bit like breathing.
