cozy coop heaters

Waste of money. Chickens come equipped with nature's best natural insulator-feathers. Also I doubt your winters in NC are severe. I'm in northern Ohio and never use heat.

What are your intentions for use? I think you can use them for brooders, too. I’ve used them for my chickens’ coop when it gets really low below zero. We used two and they lasted about a year in the dusty coop.

A lot of folks do agree with not providing heat for their chickens. We do but not too much, so that they can tolerate lower temps and power outages. I personally don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer, as long as it can be done safely and they don’t become unable to tolerate low temps at all.

They’re just radiant heaters so they only provide heat near them. In pretty cold weather you can keep your hand on them without it being too hot. I kept them near the roosts where they slept when it was very, very cold only.

I don’t have a problem providing a bit a of heat if it can be safely done. We have a motion activated camera in the coop that sets off an alarm on my phone, so that gave me peace of mind overnight when the heaters were on.
