I am trying to get my nieces and nephews out of cps foster care can anybody tell me what the process is and how long it takes ? what is the requirements and what they look for when placing them with family?

Yes, talk with the case worker...
Usually you and all those living in the house will have to be able to pass a CORI criminal check... not sure what else they will require from you...
Most likely a basic house inspection...
Most likely family therapy too?... Maybe not though..

You will need to have a background check, fingerprints, and a safety inspection as minimum, and will need to get training, but I know some states will place before the training is completed as long as it is done within a certain amount of time.
Different states have different requirements. This can take several weeks to several months.
If the children are located in a different state you will need an interstate compact agreement which can also slow things down also.
Like the others suggested, contact the case worker for the children and he/she can direct you and help you get started.
There are specific resources offered for Kinship fostering because of the special challenges it can create.
Your state may have a foster website that could offer good information on training dates, safety regulations, people to contact, etc.
I hope things work out for you and your nieces and nephews.

I second what everyone else said. I know here in CT when we stepped up to offer our home for my cousin's son, it took only about two weeks before he left foster care and moved in with us. They did a quick walk through of the house. Our main thing was the kiddo had to have a bedroom on the same floor as ours, so we had to play musical bedrooms (attic is converted to a bedroom) and he shared my son's room. He was placed before we had to do fingerprints or the kinship classes.

Wishing you all the best. I hope your situation turns out better than ours did. We tried to do something nice and it ripped my extended family apart.

I dont have experience with foster placement but we've been through the homestudy for two adoptions and its not as scary as it sounds. its paperwork, training and a quick home tour. I foudn the social worker coming to the house to be really stressful in my head but really easy in reality. They dont care if your house is perfect, just that you have a safe loving home.

we just had home inspection she said that all i have to do is put alarm on sliding glass door we will know if they can move in by end of the week . Home inspection was very easy we did stress out over it made us look at our house different and made my dh fix a few small things before they came out

As a Social Worker who completes kinship assessments, we do look at the home and resources to make sure it is safe for children. It does not have to be better homes and gardens. The criminal records checks and background checks for all adults in the home have to be completed. Understand that reunification is the first requirement for most states and they have to work toward that first. It can take much longer than anticipated. Thank you for stepping up to do this.
