Cracked eggs in incubator?

Pics
This thread has given me so much hope. I have an egg due to hatch in 2 days (sometime between tomorrow night and Friday night I believe) and in a blink of an eye a rooster pecked at it while mom was off the nest this morning. It was smooshed pretty good and missing some shell pieces. The chick was moving inside of it!! I globbed wax on. I was really concerned the wax was too hot so I hope there’s not too much that the chick can’t get out. I put it back under mom surrounded by the other eggs and with extra pine shavings. I lost the egg’s mama to a bear over the weekend so I hope this works.

Here’s the baby moving:

HolyCrap!!! That's one heck of a 'peck'!
Looks more like he stomped on it.
:fl
It does look like it was crushed and then perhaps he pecked shell pieces after. I saw the eggs right after mom got off the nest and walked outside the coop to dump some poop. When I came in I found him pecking at the egg so I don’t know exactly what happened. I just hope the little peep can pull through and hope the wax provides enough structure to keep it getting crushed by mom. I’ve had the worst luck this week.

Hello everyone. I was hoping my first post would be a better one but I had an accident and dropped an egg. I've decided to start keeping chickens again after many mishaps with Foxes. New reinforced fence has been built and then I go drop an egg on day 3. Doesn't look as bad as the last poster but I dropped it real good. The egg white had popped out onto the floor.
I was just about to candle it to see if there was life inside so I quickly scooped it up, candled it and yes there was development so I dabbed away as much of the egg white as I could, and sealed it with wax - I would guess it took me less than a minute to do all this, I was very well prepared but this egg got severely shook and when I candled it there was no more air sack!
Worst case scenario would be that the yolk ruptured? I'm sure some are thinking, what's he worried about, just a £3 egg and I have justified replacing it because of that but still I feel bad but I will post an update either way. At the moment I think I just created a slow omelette or I introduced bacteria which will grow in the egg, that is why I tried to dab and wipe the egg white away but now that I think about it I think my odds are slim. I see there are some success stories of broken eggs hatching here but at 3 days? with egg sack having gotten squashed and jumbled in the egg? Here's to hoping. I will know in 3 days if it is still developing or not at least but if it is there's be more worry about bacteria. Incubting eggs is quite a stressful thing I find. Still can't get over one of my earliest mishaps when I had eggs hatch in a 7cm tall tupperware container. When the first 2 chicks climbed out of the tupperware they snapped their necks. I couldn't believe what had happened and didn't think such a small height would have been such a death trap but they must have flopped out onto their heads and snap that was it.
You learn from your mistakes but when it comes to raising eggs mistakes mean less chicks make it.

Wow that is quite a series of events. I can’t speak for the success of sealing a cracked egg on day 3. I think you should consider making your own thread with a new titled. It may help you get more views for your questions.

If you set a cracked egg (depending on the crack) on day 0 , waxed or nail polished, there is a good chance it will die by day 10 or so...(still try). If you crack it (dropped or whatever) after day ten and seal it up you have a better chance of a hatch.

It's developed a faint red circle. Bummer but it's not the only one, one had a saddle shaped air sack from postage, another one was infertile. still could get a 50% hatch. In hindsight I really should have done a test run with some infertile eggs first but at least all the kinks shuld be worked out now, well apart from my clumsiness which I felt was due to a sleepless night worrying about the eggs lol
