I need to make a mark on each of my lutino budgies so I don't mix them up, and I use food colring which I know is 100% safe but I don't know where the food coloring is and my mom is asleep so i can't ask her. Anyways, I'm inpatient so I wanted to just use crayola markers now and then later today dye their tails with food coloring. Are crayola markers safe to use? It says on the box "Non toxic" and also says "Washing and Care information Stain Advisement: Crayola markers contain colorants which may stain" (which I don't care about for my budgies, it'd be nice if the mark would stay awhile). Surely if it's non toxic to people it'd be non toxic to birds?

I don't believe that they aren't toxic to humans. I would not take a chance. Chickens are so sensitive to everything.

They arent chickens, they're budgies, but all birds are probably pretty sensitive. Alright, I suppose I won't then

I'd use them. Its not like you're coloring their skin with them, or their whole bodies you're just making a mark on them, and theres nothing more in them as far as color goes than there is in the food coloring.

Oh, sorry. What are buggies?
I think birds in general are very sensitive though. Always better to be safe than sorry

Budgies are budgerigars or what most people call parakeets (not their proper name though, since lots of birds are in the parakeet family).
