Pearl is a 1 year old Lavender Ameraucana. She is laying. They stay in a clean coop/sand run. Water, laying pellets and oyster shells. 1 hour of free range each day.
A couple of weeks ago, she felt unwell and when I picked her up- foul liquid came out her mouth. The crop was very enlarged and ballon like- so I think sour crop
I helped her release some of the liquid. Have a little mineral oil by mouth. And started her on paste monistat which I continued for 7 days. She also had yogurt and no scratch grains.
The crop became smaller and her appetite returned.i thought - success!
Then yesterday, here we go again. She feels poorly, crop enlarged , liquid from mouth. I read about worms being a possible problem and got the safeguard liquid goat wormer and dosed everyone. I also gave her a little yogurt.
This morning. I again expressed some liquid and gave her the monostat.
I’ve read all the threads but never treated this before. I understand the risk of expelling the liquid. I have no feasible ways to separate her.
So, my question is - if it were worms how long would it take to resolve? I assume I would not repeat the goat wormer. And I assume I would continue with another 2x day monistat??
Thank you.
