Yep, definitely related... but mine had to be different, only one web has a spot, lol... :gig

Cal is too cute!!!

Awwwwwww... Sooo nice to see my little grand ducks!
I have too many and can't hatch anymore for myself. Where are the others AmandaVirginia? Is this the "Chosen One"?

We love hatching them!!! And I got too many too, but just can't help it, I want more! :lau

Hatching eggs is much more difficult than any other ducks... they fly absolutely amazingly, better than any other ducks except maybe pure mallards... they are super small, so snack size for just about any predator... and they can be exceptionally louder than any other ducks around...

But they are amazing and awesome! :D

Do you think they would go over a 4 1/2 foot fence with one wing clipped?

So, I took Cal to the vet on Saturday with what I thought was an upper respiratory infection. He was wheezing, had clogged nares, and mouth breathing. It turns out he has a small hole in the soft pallet of his mouth. He eats, drinks, poops, and plays wonderfully but it only seemed to be getting worse so naturally I worried for him. With that being said, I flush his nares with normal saline in a teeny tiny cannula, that I bought from the vet, every morning and night (his nares get clogged every time he eats due to the hole). I'm also treating him with an antibiotic, from the vet, twice a day for ten days just in case an upper respiratory infection was concurrently developing also. I'm hoping he'll grow into it, although there's always a chance it could get worse too. As long as he continues to thrive, the small hole really doesn't even matter because I'll give him special care for the rest of his life if that is what he needs from me

I'm sure you know this....but he has a water bowl available all the time that he can stick his whole face in up to his eyes, right?

Awww... poor baby... hope it gets better...

I would say yes... but I also prefer clipping both wings if I clip, in case of predator chasing them it won't make them circle back around into it... but pens should be covered for them due to them being prime predator snacks... :)

Yes, of course. He gets a nightly bath as well. None of those things are more than a temporary fix though because of the hole in the roof of his mouth, directly under his nares. When he eats the food gets pushed up into the hole, therefore clogging his nares. It takes me manually removing it. I still had his three siblings when I took Cal to his appointment on Saturday morning. We compared his mouth with theirs and his was the only one with the hole, which made sense considering he was the only one having the presenting problems. I'll keep you updated as he continues to grow up.
