Calling all crafty friends!!

Kids and I are enjoying a lot of forced together time right now 😂 so I thought instead of just dying Easter eggs we would try making some that would last a little longer.

Need your tips and tricks for blowing out eggs...and then decorating them.
I have chicken, duck, and goose eggs to work with.

Feel free to share some pics of your past eggs too...I would love some inspiration!!

We lived on a warm tropical island years ago when my kids were little. One Easter, we couldn't find the last egg.... until several weeks later when we could smell it. :th

After that we decorated blown eggs for hiding. We decorated them the same as hard boiled eggs, dip them in dye, stickers, etc. You need to roll it in the dye bowl because they float initially and then once it gets the liquid inside it will sink. Make sure to drain the dye out when you remove it from the bowl. Just be a little more gentle with them that you would hard boiled eggs because they break easily.

We also decroupaged some of the blown eggs with colored tissue paper and 50-50 school glue and water. You can fill the egg with colored rice or confetti and seal it closed with the glue water and tissue paper. Now it is a cascarone. You crack it over someone's head to release the confetti and it is suppose to bring good luck. ;)

I've become addicted to blowing out eggs, I like to keep some as a collection. I did a bunch of extras in Feb, and was trying to sell them as decorations, but now people just ask me if I am selling laying hens and eggs. :/ I discovered a really great way to do it, the one hole method:
Blow out egg with only one hole

I got alcohol inks to decorate them, but I also experimented with nail polish marbling.:)

I love the idea of filling them!! How do you get the stuff inside?

Perfect video!! Thank you!!

Do you guys boil them or anything to "clean" them before you decorate?

How do you fill them? With lots of patience lol. You will need to make the hole a little bit bigger to make it easier after you empty out the shell. Remember you are going to seal it back up after you fill it so a little bigger hole won't be noticeable. If you have or can find a tiny funnel and small pieces of confetti that will help too. I'm sure there are videos on youtube, which wasn't around yet when I did this with my now grown kids years ago, and they may have some tips that I didn't have back then to make it easier. It was a lot of fun though and the kids loved it.

No, I didn't boil them or do anything more than rinse and dry them with water but my eggs at the time were store bought. I really like that syringe method in the video. We actually blew out the eggs with two holes. :sick :lau

You're welcome. :) For cleaning I usually make a mix of bleach and soap water, inject that, shake it, blow it out again, twice. Then I rinse the outside of the egg in the mixture and rinse it with clean water. I have wiped them with alcohol, to get rid of finger print oil, but usually dont.
