Developing my own large Oriental breed for free ranging

Ok what I’m planning on doing since I want the orientals birchen and/or Brown Red I think I’m going to give 1 of the brown red AGF hens to the Bruges/American cross stag so they will come out birchen/brown red and when the hens mature give them to the Bruges cock. Then give the other two BR AGF and the Bruges x AGF pullet to the Bruges cock and go from there. And if I can get a hold of oriental pullet of some kind I’ll use them.

the Bruges - AGF stag is 5lbs now I pinned him with my best brown red AGF hen to speed his maturity.

Updated picture of the Bruges rooster
(who BTW could really use a name) after he finished molting .I had to take him off free range because he was way to thin and ran the chance of him dying, the reason he’s thin is it’s been pretty cold and there no natural feed for them to eat right now. I think he’ll be fine now and I’ll turn him out in the spring after I get some 3/4 Bruges 1/4 AGF chicks. In the spring I may get some wahl aseel eggs for the Bruges rooster and his son.

Well, I’ve been out of state since Thursday I’ll be back in a couple hours and we’ll see how he did.

Even with temps of 9° and 14° and windy last night all the Crusher Brazilians did well. In fact they were strutting their stuff, lol. Of course the Harris asils and the Cubalayas always do well. They should get a break next week with 60° daytime temps

The Bruges rooster made it, and is doing much better. He’s walking around a lot more, and his limp is not as bad.
