Digital Countdown Day Timer

Not trying to be snide or anything....but I would ask down at the feed store.
They are usually free they call them a CALENDER !!. This and a free pencil from the hardware store and I am good to go.

Really the only place I have seen the digital ones are at the Sharper Image store.

Oh well let’s see, the co-op it’s on what’s that street, the pencil I thought it was in my right pocket, I know I used it to mark grandsons birthday on that calendar, it’s in August, no that’s not right its September now, or is it? You will be there soon enough and it is amazing how much help a little technology is for CRS disease. LoL
I really thought it would be easy to find and inexpensive but not so. Would make a great little electronic project, if I could just remember where I put the soldering iron.

Hmmmmm.... Hmmmmmmm.....Radio Shack?

Or for a different version, which you'd have to go through more odd little steps to reset it, go to a Hallmark store for those birthday/retirement count down thingies? The first one I ever saw was for Y2K.

Really glad my Brinsea Mini Advance incubator includes that feature!

Found it!! I was searching via words like digital, electronic, timer and got tons of kitchen timers. Then I try two words, Count Down, and boom there it is, EBay has tons of them for about five bucks. They come with a bunch of labels like countdown to retirement, countdown to graduation ect. Think I will make my own Hatch Label.

Like I said "not trying to be snide"
Watch out for the cheap countdown timers, some of them can only be used once and will not reset
Thats why they are so cheap.

Re, Like I said "not trying to be snide"

I got a great laugh and some good truths out of your “not snide” comment and in no way took it as so.

Thanks for the no reset warning, I will def look into that. I also thought if it has no beep or light built in I would not be able to have it close a small circuit that would turn on a very visible blinking led, I will at times have four to six incubators going at the same time so a daily check is done but a blinking light that says stop turning would be handy, and I admit I just like gadgets.

Well this countdown timer idea of mine really evolved into an interesting project. So I get the timer and it is resettable. The timer also comes with several inserts for the occasion you’re counting down to but no hatch day. Simple enough, I just printed my own and Walla. A countdown to hatch day gismo.

Now where do I put it? There is nothing to stick it to on my Styrofoam Hova-Bator so I made a box in order to have a shelf LoL. I have made a byc page on the whole project for anyone with lots of spare time.
