You are not asking about doing this for an educational experience. You are simply doing it because your grand kids like it. They are too young to know better. That it is not natural.
It is unnecessary. Period. End of story. You are free to continue to try to change the minds of those you got replies from but I'm afraid it will be a wasted effort.
Good luck on your search for artificially dyed chicks.
Its not natural but it is harmless . Raising 2000 broilers in 1 poultry house isn't natural either but unless you want to pay $15 Dollars for a roaster chicken you better hope people like me keep raising them that way .

is this for real? and they inject the eggs with colors?

what a messed up thing to do. hope its illegal.
Only in some states . Mostly the more liberal states like NY and NJ .

How is that cruel? I don't get it. It's only a temporary colour for one set of feathers. There's no distress or pain involved for the bird.

Selling them specifically as temporary Easter pets for inexperienced owners is a bad idea, yes, but if the person dyeing them is acquainted with chickens I fail to see why it's so horrible.

I don't think anyone said it was cruel. I know I didn't.
I said it was unnatural and unnecessary.
I never said it harmed the chick.
I think it is irresponsible to foster such practices especially for the amusement of humans. It shows a lack of respect for the animal and teaches same in impressionable children. It was only ever practiced for Easter time profit.
It wouldn't hurt to spray paint a child with all natural purple stain either. But I bet such a practice would be frowned upon.
