Do ducks lay at night?

Mine lay anytime!

Thinking of giving them a clock where they can see it so they can start coordinating better...

at what age do ducks begin to lay eggs

Between 6 and 8 months is pretty typical. Also the amount of daylight effects egg laying.

Our ducks lay anywhere from 6:00am to 5:59:59am.

They usually lay in the morning by 10am, but we've had a few late evening eggs.

One of the evening eggs gave us a bit of a scare. Victor (girl duck with boy name that we call a "he") and Ming Mei were diapered in our living room and I noticed egg yolk all over Victor's diaper and legs and the floor. We were really worried because he had egg binding issues when he first started laying. We checked his diaper and found nothing but the usual poop. That had us really confused until we checked Ming Mei. She laid an egg in her diaper and cracked it open by running around. The egg yolk seeped out (the egg pushed the diaper away from the body so it wasn't catching stuff like it normally would) and we figured that Victor sat on the yolk and that's why he was covered with it. I swear, those two ducks did that on purpose to scare us!

Well, I'm getting eggs up at the farm now, but I don't collect eggs until early afternoon.

I've found two BEI eggs so far. The weather is pretty cold, but not cold enough to freeze eggs, so I'm putting them under a broody hen to check fertility.
