Do you paint nest boxes dark on inside?

anyone use curtains to get the chickens to lay in their boxes? Im having trouble. They are laying under the roosts. I use alum pans with cat liter to catch their droppings. I need help on them to lay in their boxes. They kick out plastic easter eggs from boxes. Please help.

The inside of my coop is white, so I painted the nests a darker color. It was an "oops" paint from Walmart. Kind of a creamy chocolate color. I also used the black dish pans to line the nests with.




Mine seem to like the nests. Of course, I still have some laying in the coop/run. I'm hoping everyone will use the nests eventually.
