Hello I am new here and I just wanted someone to tell me how well she fits the SOP. I know the basics of this breeds SOP but I want a more professional answer. She doesn’t seem like she necessarily fits the SOP(she doesn’t have feathers on her middle toes, she’s not really big and puffy all that other stuff) The reason may be is because I got her from a hatchery. Before y’all freak out I know they don’t sell SOP birds, but I still wanted to give it a shot in showing her just so I could see what the experience was like! I also just want to know in better detail what to look for in a good show quality Belgian d’Uccle. If somebody could just me all of her faults and basically judge her that would be nice! The photos I have aren’t the best and she’s still a pullet.

Her tail set seems good, her tail spread could be a bit better but not bad. She is a pullet but her chest should be more full and rounder. For sure her feathered legs aren’t as feathered but they aren’t bad. Beard looks fine. The neck could be more full.
Honestly, if you want to go to a show, bring whoever you want and just go for it! Many kiddos in 4-H show their hatchery birds and still get best of breed or variety (because most of the time, their bird’s breed is the only one haha.) Just make sure to give your gal a good bath beforehand! :)

Thank you so much!! That’s kind of what I expected. Would she ever to be more full looking? Or is she stuck like that. I’ve been feeding her some better protein(recommendation from someone else)But if not it’s okay. Thank you for telling me what you think about her!

Some hatcheries do sell exhibition quality breeds.

These are Brassy Back OEGBs from Cackle.

I was worried about but I wasn’t too sure because my ag teacher didn’t say anything about it or her beak😭 I also wasn’t aware that the color of her beak was wrong. I already entered her into a show for January 4th 😪😞but thanks!
