Preface: I’ve never owned Light Brahmas this young…the last ones I purchased were 5 weeks old already & feathered definitely light Brahmas…I thought the LIGHT Brahmas were supposed to be yellow chicks? But the My Pet Chicken website and Ideal Poultry hatchery both have pics of this chick as a Light Brahma……? Is this a Light Brahma?

No. Those are too dark. Light brahmas tend to look a lot closer in color to the pale yellow like the color that is around eyes and down towards upper beak.

They can vary, but usually they look just like the chick in question.

Thats crazy! All of my Brahmas (5 of them) were mostly light yellow with some light grey and black. What Do the Dark Brahmas look like as chicks? They’re dark brown with black and lighter grey throughout right?

There are a lot of different strains of Brahmas. I've seen light Brahma chicks that were pretty much all yellow, but usually they have a lot of gray mixed in.

Dark Brahmas are variable too. Usually dark brown with those weird gray markings around the eyes, but many have chipmunk stripes on the back, too.

Luckily, they all have feathered legs and pea combs so it's easy to tell what they are. The bantams are easy to mistake for D'Uccles, though. Many's the time on here that I thought chicks were mille fleurs when they were actually buff Brahma bantams.

I can see how that could be easily confused. All my Duccles are Porcelain color and they have like this silverish tiny on their backsides and rest yellow and they were A LOT tinier than Brahams. Do you have any Brahmas?
