I am not sure why I'm bothering to post. This bird and her sister have both been experiencing unusual unsolvable symptoms for the last 2 years and quite frankly I do not know why they haven't died, and my absolute exhaustion has me wondering if the best course of action for them both is euthanasia. I have spent days with my face buried in poultry pathology books bigger than phone books of yore. I've dragged them to the vet multiple times. I've purchased every drug you can buy to treat chickens for one thing or the other. I have dragged professionals that normally would never bother, who can't figure this out either. I'm tired. All that matters to me is if this bird is suffering and how I should solve it.

Last night she didn't go to bed. My husband was up late playing games and let the dog out at midnight. Dog cornered a possum and my husband ran to take care of it and during this he checked on the birds to find her in the run laying down and not in bed. He brought her inside and we look at her and she is drooling. Seems like it's difficult for her to stand. Saliva is pouring out of her mouth to the ground. Crop completely empty. Palpating doesn't exacerbate the drooling. She is responsive to things moving towards her face and eyes reactive.

This morning she is standing. I got her to pick at some crumbs. She has a tendency to stop what she's doing and sit motionless for a few minutes at a time before "reanimating".

Here's what she's up to right now.

I'm stuck. I'm lost. I'm tired. I've tried what feels like everything to heal Aura and Fortune. 2 years of struggling with these WEIRD problems.

I gave her 10cc poultrydrench last night and this morning. I'll start on dewormer when I think she's gonna keep it down instead of spit it up.

What feed are you feeding? What extras does she get and how much? When you worm them what brand/type and dose are you giving? What does her poop look like? How often do her and her sister show these symptoms?

HomeFresh Egg Layer Crumble kept in a plastic locking tub.
1/2cup meal worms for a flock of 8 and she gets what can grab which is typically not much, she is low on the pecking order
Safeguard. Fenbendazole. She hasn't gotten any. I haven't wormed her this year. I need to sit and calculate dosage for 700g bird. I'm not doing it right now
She's not pooped in confinement yet
It's hard to separate from my mind when each of them spirals like this. Once every 4 to 5 months or so. But they're never doing it at the same time so it seems more frequent than it is for the individual

I'm back for posterity.

No improvement. Bubbles in the eyes today. Mouth smells sour and foul.

Bubbles in the eyes means one outcome and I'm not ready for more death so I'm going to close my eyes for the night and pray to see something else tomorrow morning

In the interim I've treated for everything. Safeguard .3ml, poultry drench direct, miconazole 4%, 20mg doxycycline 5mg tylosin

I’m wondering if it’s canker. Is there anything in her beak that you can see? Canker has yellowish lesions in the beak/throat area, and they can go all the way down to the crop. Although honestly if it was canker I would expect them all to have died by now. Has she lost any weight lately?

Nothing unusual looking with the mouth tissue. Looks normal.
