DUCK ATTACKED BY RACCOON three weeks ago. Help with wounds. Should he be better by now?

@Chikenshiken How are things today?
Hi! He’s doing better and actually trying to walk now. He’s doing the motion of walking but not able to actually lift himself up yet. For the weird lump on his wing, he actually bit it and popped it today by himself which is a bit of a relief because I wasn’t sure if I could be able to. There was just blood inside and I drained as much as I can and put some neosporin on it. I got the nutri drench and gave him 2mL by mouth since the package said 1mL for every 3 pounds but I’m wondering how often should I be giving him this? Is it everyday? The packaging really doesn’t specify and I haven’t given him anymore since yesterday just because I’m unsure. But I got him to eat some soupy feed but I had to water down a cup of feed a lot just to get him to drink it and kind of “ trick him “ into eating it along with peas. I think he is on a path of full recovery but his wounds are kind of at the “ raw “ stage where all the dead skin and scabs came off and it’s just raw and I imagine very painful and irritating but I know that’s just a stage of healing. He is a lot more jumpy and flappy when I touch them I can tell he’s extremely anxious to walk again since he’s always trying to and it’s really sad to see him struggle I hope his wounds heal soon so he won’t have to wiggle anymore it breaks my heart 💔

Put the Nutri drench into his drinking water. you can give it to him by mouth but you have to be very careful he doesn't aspirate on it.

I am so happy to hear he is at least trying now to get up. keep up with the baths so he can keep his muscles from getting any weaker. Hopefully his appetite will continue to improve to as he is healing. Your doing a great job caring for him. You could try rinsing his wounds with warm salty water to help in the healing process.

Unfortunately I’ve come across another problem. Just yesterday, this spot on his foot was fine. Well, it was raw but it’s as to be expected because the skin from the wound was starting to peel away to heal. But this morning I saw that it looked way different than yesterday. For one, it’s darker. Now it’s a brown almost black color. I’m afraid it’s infected but I’m not sure. I can see there pus or something of the sort in the bubbles near the top. It’s squishy while the rest is sort of just like a scab. Is this something I need to lance and drain 😢 or is this normal for healing?! I’m so afraid to lose another duck to an infection I was so sure I was doing this right this was so unexpected. Should I put him back on baytril? I’m so worried sick now you can see the pus or whatever’s building up at the very top as it’s lighter colored. Any advice will help 💔 I’m confused since I’ve been doing the exact same things I’ve been doing for all the other wounds on his body. Epsom salt soak, saline spray, vetercyn, and neosporin, then wrapping.

An update after I tried to lance it. Nothing came out? Only a tiny bit of fluid so I tried again and… nothing? I’m so confused now it is squishy like there’s something inside but I try to lance it and nothing comes out. I feel bad for poking my boy for nothing. A bit of fluid, only the tiniest amount maybe a drop came out and some blood. The fluid was clear but that’s it. And the bubble didn’t go down any. When I poked it, it didn’t feel hollow like a regular wound with puss. It felt solid and squishy, like fat. Now I’m extra confused and unsure if this is still an infection… but I feel like this isn’t normal

Put some Neosporin or trip antibiotic on it or soak it in some warm Epsom salt water [don't let him drink the water it works as a laxative too.]then put the antibiotic ointment on it. Wait a few days and see if it starts going away.
How long was he on the Baytril? I'm pretty sure 7 days is the limit. Although I have seen people go 10.

looking at it makes me think of a bad bumble.

He was on baytril for four days. I’m wondering, how often should I be doing epsom salt soak, neosporin, etc. once or twice a day? I’ve been doing it one time a day every morning but I’m wondering if I should be doing it twice. it seems like it must really hurt for him :( during his warm bath this morning he hated it and cried and kept huffing trying to escape. It must be that spot on his leg because he has never reacted that way he has loved his baths up to this point.

Is this a scab? so hard to tell by a picture? Thinking if you soak and it is a scab you might be able to gently pull off the scab and get out the infection. Like was said in the emergency section poultry pus is thick, not runny like us humans so if the scab comes off you'd have a better time getting out the infection. You want the scab to come off easily so not to damage good skin.

I’ve tried to lance the wound with a blade this time and a lot of clear fluid came out however the fatty looking bubbles are solid. It isn’t waxy but really is squishy and part of his skin so I have no idea what’s going on!! I feel so sad for him this one area is causing him the most of his pain. I washed it out with hydrogen peroxide and saline, there was no blood just maybe 3-4 drops of clear stuff. You can see a tiny hole where I punctured and the white stuff is not something I can squeeze out. It’s more prominent than yesterday which worries me as you can compare from the photos I sent earlier. I’m so frustrated and scared I was hoping it’d all just squeeze out but I was wrong
