Bunny had her first birthday today (or yesterday, depending on your time zone), and now I'm wondering what everyone else does to celebrate their ducks' birthdays. Perhaps I should say hatchdays, instead of birthdays.
Just wondering if anyone else has photos to share, or maybe some ideas for traditions the rest of us could pick up on. Today we kept it pretty low-key, but we went out of our way to make sure Bunny had plenty of playtime, both indoors and outdoors. Plus, we gave her a new toy and made a cake for her out of fruits and vegetables.
Here's the cake. My boyfriend is a great chef, and he doesn't fail to deliver when making duck food either! It's a three-layer cake, with grape tomatoes, bananas, and strawberries, separated by pieces of romaine lettuce, and sprinkled with crushed oyster shell. The "candle" is a strip of cucumber with a triangular slice of banana on top.

It took her about four hours to figure out whether the cake was edible, or possibly a well-disguised predator. Silly duck.
I'd love to see some other "hatchday" photos or hear about your traditions!
