Hi! I have a female Australian Spotted Duck. She’s about a year old and is housed with a male of her breed. We’ve had them for about a month and she just started laying last week. We have ducklings inside but otherwise this is my first time raising ducks. Here’s what’s happened..give any advice that might help!

Day one: She laid an egg out in the open next to their drinking water (I moved it into their nesting coop which has straw.)
Day two: she laid another egg next to the one I had moved so I was super excited and it looked like she’d moved the straw around it.
Day three: another egg near the nest. This one had a tiny bit of blood on the shell.
Day four: no egg (I was hoping her body took a break. It’s possible she buried it. She’s been digging little holes in the straw and stones for a couple weeks now.)
Day five: found an egg in their water bowl.
Day six: egg near nest.

Today is day 6. Do I move the water bowl egg with the other eggs (I already took it out)? Or don’t put it in her nest since the bloom will have been washed off? Should I leave her eggs be in general or is it ok to put them together for her? I want her to be laying in their nesting coop rather than out in their enclosure.

I’d love for them to hatch babies but I know that’s going to be up to her. How long do you leave eggs to see if they go broody before you take them?

There isn’t much online about the patterns of this breed so that’s what I wanted to come here!

I generally will mark the date on eggs, and get rid of anything after 7-10 days. Sounds like she's not going broody currently. I would just keep a small nest going for her with the freshest eggs. Discard any that are too dirty or that got wet, and hope for the best.

Thank you so much!
