Hello BYC! I’m a first time Hatcher of our pekin/mallard or Mallard ducklings.
They are being naturally hatched and are 33 days old, there is life in everyone(12) and almost all of them are internally piped, one of them piped yesterday about when I got home about 19 hours ago or earlier, I don’t mark my eggs so I don’t know which ones were the first to pip. Is a safety hole necessary? I’ve heard people say 24hr is the longest and some people say even 3 days to externally pip.
anyway please help me out! Thanks.

By naturally hatched you mean under a broody?
They should hatch fine on their own. Ducks can take forever from pip to zip.

Hi I'm hatching Cayugas for first time and there suppose to go into lockdown Saturday but I fell asleep last night ( incubater issues) and the humidity went up to 57. When I brought down I noticed 3 eggs look shrunk wrapped due to air sac doubled. Do you have time to advise? I lost all my female Silkies trying something new but you have no idea the nightmare I'm having. I even used my carvas incubater for about 2hours! I just don't want any more to die.....

Air cells should get big and dip to one side at hatch time. That doesn't mean shrink wrapping.
I try to keep humidity around 50-65 at lock down so that doesn't sound too bad to me.
Have you candled and looked for internal pips?

Oh.. I guess you mean they shouldn't go into lock down UNTIL Saturday.
Well, if they are starting to hatch a little early and some have internally pipped that will make the humidity raise in your incubator.
