My parents said I can start a duck farm, I will be selling eggs. I have been doing lots of research but I just wanted to get your opinion. What ducks should I get??

where are you located? How many are you allowed to get? What kind of housing will you have for them? Where will they be allowed to go during the day?

Lots of things to consider. About all we know is that you want them for eggs. I know Indian runners are good egg layers and are fun to watch. There are other breeds that are too but I can't speak to them because I only have runners. I know there will be others that come on to give advice.

I am in oklahoma, hot in the summer pretty cold in the winter, I have a big fenced in area with a coop in the middle where they can sleep at night and in the morning I will let them out into the fenced area. they said I can get about 15

khaki campbells are pretty good for egg production. sometimes they laid more faithfully than my chickens. but i've never tried any other breed of ducks besides them so i don't know as far as comparison goes.

Also welsh harlequin, top places i would order from are:

Holderreads
Metzers
Sand hill preservation

Its the last year for holderread ducklings and their birds are internationaly recognised. Down side is they do not come sexed.

I think the Holderreads WH can be sexed by bill color. I got 11 today and only 4 appear to be male based on bill color. Not too bad!

I also suggest variety. You would get the most big eggs from the 300’s and Pekins, the most quantity of eggs from Runners and K/C. My personal preference is Runners for entertainment. All it takes is a few minutes of watching my clown runner and problems seem to fade away. Rouens are a good compromise for quantity and size.

Khaki Campbells are the best pure bred laying duck. But I think a few breeds would be better than one breed.
