My sweet Marshall is a 5 ish year old Pekin. Sunday my husband picked her up after cutting the yard because she didn’t move the entire time he was mowing - which is unlike her. The webbing on her left foot was ripped down one side. Took her to the vet on Monday and they removed the rest of the webbing and “glued” the side. I asked about what looked like a cut on her other side and they said the antibiotic for 7 days would take care of any other problems. Now her other side looks likes this and is more black now than the day before. She’s still eating, drinking and pooping and wants to go in the yard with her friends. We’re keeping her in the garage, contained and giving her epson salt baths twice a day and spraying wound care spray on her afterwards. There were some maggots in the towel after we had her wrapped up to get her RX in her. Lost cause? She doesn’t seem in pain. Any other suggestions?

The little bit of blood you see in the tub is from us just unwrapping her foot. It had a little scab over it.

Can you post a picture of her foot so we can see what your seeing? any idea how she was injured?
Give the antibiotic time to work and keep up with the Epsom salt soaks. Her knee area looks swollen also
:welcome

I would spray the wound with Blue Kote or Betadine. I like the spray version of Blue Kote. Then fit the duck with a little newborn tee-shirt [from a thrift store] to stop her "preening" the wound. I find that the smallest tee-shirts often have a neck that is too large, stretches and tramples down, so tie a knot in the neck or oversew it if there isn't enough to tie a knot

The pinks shirt at the front has a knot in the neck. The other two needed oversewing to reduce the size of the neck as both ducks could trample the tee shirts down and get out of them, but there wasn't enough fabric to tie a knot!

Look her over for the source of the maggots to make sure she doesn't have fly strike.

So, she has a foot injury and also an injury to her side? Just trying to be clear from what was written and the pic.

We don’t know how she was injured. Maybe a turtle???? Her foot is healing up great. The webbing gone doesn’t seem to bother her at all. Her back still has a rather large sore spot but I think the salt baths are helping!!! I’ll get new pictures of her before her evening bath tonight and share them.

Yes her webbing was ripped and a gash on her back. After a couple salt baths I have not seen anymore maggots on her!!! So I’m grateful for that!!

Oh my gosh!!!I never thought of shirts like that. I used them on my dog after surgery but I might give it a try with Marshall.
