Hi, everyone. I am new here, and new to the duckling situation. We have had ducklings in the past but not for years and I wasn’t very involved in the process back then. Yesterday we brought home my first group(3) of ducklings. We have them in the bathtub (no water, just keeping them corralled) with a heat lamp keeping them warm. My question is about their poops. Is there a way for me to keep them from popping in the water!? As of now i am using the bottom inch of a milk jug for their water. I know it’s not ideal, they are being replaced today, but how do I keep them from pooping in the water!?

Welcome to BYC they’re too young to be swimming anyway, and you can use a water like this you can make yourself , a container with a lid and cut holes in it big enough for them to stick their whole head in, but not their body as they grow you can make the holes bigger or switch to a container with bigger holes. I also use puppy pee pads on the floor of the tub or crate or box whatever you have them in and they’re easy to roll up and replace for cleaning.

Welcome to BYC! We’re glad to have you here. :frow:welcome

When my ducks were ducklings I used a whole milk jug and cut an opening in the side, higher up. That kept them out, they could dunk their whole bill in, and there was less water spillage. Though I did this when they were a bit bigger and could reach in.
