I have a barn cat, that likes to hang around people sometimes. This eve I was outside, along came the cat, when suddenly my 2 Pekins started waddling up to the cat. The cat hid nearby and I thought the ducks had forgotten. Next thing I knew, all 12 of my ducks chased the cat into some tall weeds. It was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. Anyone else seen this? How do ducks and cats normally interact?

My two indoor-outdoor cats and the two ducks I bought at near adulthood managed to get used to each other and had a rather peaceful co-existance by simply allowing each other plenty of space. Not too long ago I added a young adult drake. He takes his job of protecting the ladies quite seriously and chases the cats merceilessly if they even think of getting close to any of them. I still have hopes of teaching him to leave the cats along, but it is a slow process. One of the cats takes it as some sort of game and sometimes it looks like she is actually taunting him. The other one is acting more like she is truly afraid of him.

My house duck is barely 4 weeks old and my cat is already wary of him. I'm sure that a cat could kill a duck but I doubt Lucy could get anywhere near Quacker without getting chased or billed to death. I wouldn't worry too much about the cat since you have so many watchful eyes that will keep her at bay and away from ducklings. Cats don't hunt in groups.

Also my dog has done very well with my duck from day one. I always hear of horror stories with ducks and dogs but my dog Simba doesn't have much of a prey drive at all. He's taken to rabbits and cats and is terrified of the parrots he was raised around. He even let's Quacker pick fleas off him, and he tries to "give" Quacker his rope toy. But Simba is a medium sized dog so I'm not too sure how a bigger dog would be. I was told he was part Basinji by my vet.

My farm cat is hesitant that said he cannot be that concerned as he lays on the porch of the duck barn and down in the cedars with them lol My scovie flock don't seem bothered by him, he is not aggressive towards them and they give each other a good space when walking by.

My house cats are so bored of baby birds in the house, they couldn't care any less if they tried, my one guys licks the babies, he must think their kittens, he's very daddy oriented, he has bred before, produced one litter before being neutered and sold to me so he has a very strong fatherly instinct. As well they are all Ragdolls, so super laid back cats as a whole(the breed)

I have a cat and two dogs. My cat had a bad experience with my Miss Quackers. The duck was sitting in my lap when my cat jumped up on the couch. Miss Quackers hissed and lunged at him. Ever since then, he gives them lots of room. My mastiff could care less about any animal. My rottweiler tries to get them to run. If they were to take off running, he would not hesitate and would attack. Granted, these are all of my personal pets. Where I live, we also have stray animals, hunting dogs that get separated from their owners, and various animals that roam about freely because their owners don't seem to care if they get out. All of the wandering dogs meet up and run in a pack. This pack will chase cars, people, and whatever else. I have no doubt that they would go after the ducks.

My cat and ducks are oblivious of each other and have never really paid attention to each other from day one. However, there is a stray cat that ventures around the neighborhood and the ducks let me know when it is around. They are pretty good about letting the cat know it is not welcome and the cat does not stick around.
