Egg a dud or late bloomer?

Perhaps it's a matter of personal preference. I would not use the float test because there are better methods out there than dunking an egg in water.
And also because I can imagine it being a bit traumatic for any living chicks.
I know I am safe with candling, and I will continue to use that method over the float test.

I have only used it in the last couple of days of incubation when a light is no longer accurate; water shows signs of life immediately.

If people are debating whether or not to give up on an egg, or even crack open an egg, it is one more way to be "extra sure".

So i have had a late hatcher at day 29 since they were set at different days i would wait i have silkie eggs that im in debate with right now cause they were set on different days so I just wait it out if you do crack an egg that you are not sure of its viability do it outside cause if its not viable it will pop like a firecracker and smell like a stink bomb trust me I just had it happen to me a month ago 🤢🤢🤢🤢
So an update: we now have 5 more chicks, and I just candled the remaining eggs today. 1 never developed so we cracked it and there was just yolk. The egg that was originally in question had absolutely no air cell or signs of an embryo AND it was beginning to smell like fishworms.....so I told my husband to throw it into the woods behind our house because I just knew it was rotten at that point- it had been 30 days. And your experience was the first thing that came to mind so I definitely didn't want to risk a stink bomb! Thank you for your advice!
