Does anyone have a good egg counter app? I've been using pen and paper but I'd like to digitalize it. I can't find a good app in the apple app store. I may have to make an excell sheet to help keep track...

I'd never even thought about it until you posted... makes total sense!

Here's a few that I've since downloaded and am playing with.

CountMyEggs (very basic - FREE)
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/count-your-eggs/id957518668?mt=8

FlockPlenty (if you're selling or tracking expenses - FREE)
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flockplenty-chicken-egg-tracker/id1017524534?mt=8

Mother Hen (tracks per hen and finances - $2.99)
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mother-hen/id1039650803?mt=8

There were several others that I downloaded and immediately deleted. I'll try them for a couple weeks and see how it goes. One thing I'm not seeing with any of them is an account that'll allow me to share the count with my family, track it online, etc.

I had tried the Count My Eggs and Flock Plenty. I liked the simplicity of CME but you hit the nail on the head. It doesn't sync up with another family members account too. Sometimes the wife collects them, sometimes I do. It would be nice if there was one that synced up.

I may try some sort of excell sheet that I can just share over icloud. IDK I'm still looking around. I wish I knew how to build apps haha

I just use an excel spread sheet on my laptop.....don't need to 'sync' with anyone tho.
Don't have any mobile devices, can't afford them, and get many distinct impressions that many apps lack a lot.
Nice because you can build the SS to do what you want, add to it, modify it.
Have many worksheets within to keep all kind of notes and references, daily egg count, and sales sheets calculate sales vs feed costs.

I also use an Excel spreadsheet not only to keep track of eggs laid but, having a small flock:

Hatch dates
Last worming
When moulting
When broody
When broken from being broody
Etc

Working in IT, I probably should have a whizz bang Egg Counter with all the bells and whistles but, with flock records, this is one time I find keeping it simple is better. JMHO

I count eggs daily, weekly totals, some notes.
Tally sales total(linked from another sheet) and feed costs in a 'by the main feed bag' cycle,
which can be anywhere from a couple weeks to a month depending on bird population at the time.

Here's a screen shot of one cycle.

Hey josher57

With mine, as I mentioned, I keep it simple. I do not weigh the eggs but if I did I would probably add the weight rather than just a tick to say they laid.

Vertical, I just have the girls and horizontal, the month. I also do not worry about totals as this is more for my interest purposes and just to keep a track of their laying, health etc but if I do need totals, easily done.

The gals birth dates are across the top and I also record that first egg. Handy to know when someone asks how long before you got that first egg

You will also see, broody, broken [from broody] and moulting. Not that this screen capture shows it but if/when I gave a broody eggs, the date given and hatch date are recorded.
