Hey everyone!

I am currently incubating shipped cream legbar eggs from ebay. I let them set for 18 hours and put them in. I noticed today that a few of the 12 are crystalizing but no other eggs. I candled to see if a detached air cell could have caused it but no. Instead there is a small mini bubble/blob moving around in only the crystalised eggs. Any ideas what could have caused this and if anything can fix it? Thanks!

Most likely bacteria, I would get them out of the incubator and chuck them.
Do you think if I keep them in for another 2 days and then transfer them to another incubator once it frees up is advisable? Is there no possibility that it could be caused by high humidity since there are those tiny bubbles in only these eggs?

Can you put them in a different incubator? I've had this happen with eggs that freeze or get really cold before setting. I can't say I've ever had any like that make it. You could put them in a different incubator by themselves just to see but I wouldn't keep them in with the good eggs. That leaking could contaminate the others.

I don't have a incubator that free at the moment but luckily I do have a partially broody hen. She sits on them for 4-5 hours straight but then the moment she leaves she kind've forgets about them? And we end up having to direct her back to her nesting box and she'll sit again for another 5 hours or until the next day. Is there any way I can make her stay with her eggs for longer and not ditch them for so long? I'm not too sure on how long she leaves the nest for at a time but yeah. I'm trying to give these eggs the best chance I can since I did pay a fair bit for them. 7 out of 12 had crystals forming and 3 were pretty bad so i disposed of them. I put the 4 better ones with her and she accepted them and is currently sitting. I just need to keep her on them. Also since these contaminated eggs were with the others for around 12 hours does that mean they are all contaminated? Does it gravely damage their odds of thriving till hatch day? Please help Im stressed now 😭

You can see the air bubble

I see the air bubble, and I also see that the egg looks to be very porous/mottled. Have you contacted your supplier? They shouldn't be selling eggs like this.

Here is an article I found:
https://www.pasreform.com/en/knowledge/126/eggshell-mottling-does-it-affect-incubation-results
"A relationship was found between weight loss, hatchability and the degree of eggshell mottling (figure 2). The more severe the mottling, the higher the average weight loss and the lower the hatch of fertiles."

I agree that I'd contact the seller and send photos to them. I'm guessing they either got scrambled during shipping or partially froze.
