Egg Fertility Question

I have a hen currently sitting on some eggs. Today is day 3 and I candled the eggs to check for anything, as I don't want her sitting on a nest with no fertile eggs. The only hatching experience I have was last year, but even then, the eggs were already a week into development when I got them, so I didn't see the first couple days. So, anyways, when I candled an egg, the yolk looked darker, and it did not move around when the egg tilted. Is this a sign of fertility?

Depending on how dark/thick the shell is, this is what you should see at 3 days. In thicker/darker shelled eggs you still won’t be able to see much. In really dark eggs you won’t be able see anything right up until hatch unless you have a super strong light.

Let the hen sit on them for a few more days then re-check. By day 8 or so it should be pretty obvious if they are fertile.
