The egg below is from one of my roughly 7-month-old buff orpingtons. She lays an egg every day without fail and they have all had good solid shells; she has been a very healthy-looking/acting bird. I've seen similar soft-shelled eggs with a tail like this one has but can't find any examples with a good sturdy shell like this has, so I have two questions:
1. Is this egg safe to use for any sort of cooking given that the shell has a hole?
2. Is this a sign something is amiss or is it just one of those random things that happens sometimes? (Hoping for the later of course but thought I should check to be safe)
Other info:

Other info:
- Temperatures have been super weird. It was a dry 10F today but was a humid 50F two days ago.
- Feed info: my chickens have a feeder of chick starter and a second, separate one of layer feed. They often eat a bunch of chick starter in the mornings and then go for the layer crumble later in the day after they've laid an egg; they don't just pick randomly. They have really not been fond of oyster shell grit as a calcium source hence the two feeders.
- They get a lot of other things mixed into their diet; hay, regular grass when it's not frozen over, veggie scraps, meat scraps, etc.
