We have 11 chickens and 1 guinea fowl. 2 chickens had foamy eye for a few days and didn’t clear up. I was told to give them doxy-tyl powder for 5-7 days.
I mixed 1 teaspoon in 1 gallon of water for 7 days.
Then i was told their eggs are now useless. I’ve been pulling eggs ever since i started the med and it’s now been 10 das after and i’m still pulling eggs.
Is there an egg withdrawal for doxycycline? And how long? One place said eggs aren’t safe now and another article said after 27 days residue was out. I hope i didn’t ruin my flock.

Yes there is an egg withdrawal for doxy, but not for Tylan. You can get Tylan or Tylosin to use instead. But since you have started the oxytyl, you will probably need to use a 3 week withdrawal time. Here is a recent link about using 18 days:

Thank you! I had seen this article but everywhere else said they aren’t allowed to have it at all if anything is used for human consumption.

Most vets will tell clients that an unapproved drug will prevent you from ever using the eggs, because of legal issues. So, I usually look up studies, but unfortunately, not many studies are done on unapproved medicines.

That’s pretty much how i feel. I thought i messed up my whole flock.

Most people don’t use a withdrawal with Tylan, but the doxy is around 3 weeks I think. You can Google egg withdrawal time off ……drug, and usually find some info.
I found these
