Is it a good or bad idea to throw extra eggs away on the compost heap? I'm being overrun with eggs right now, and I can't give them away fast enough. By the way, how long do eggs last in the refrigerator? Thanks.

Unfortunately nobody in my family likes eggs besides me, and I'm having a hard time giving them away. I have two dozen right now, and I'll probably have 3-4 when I get home this afternoon.

Scramble the eggs and feed them back to the chickens if you don't have a household use for them. Crush up the shells and put them in the scrambled eggs for the calcium they contain. The chickens will love them !

I would not put eggs in the compost pile.
Farr too much fat and protein.

Boil em.
Peel em.
Crush the peeled shell up.
Smash/cut/dice the peeled egg.

Feed it all to the chickens.

The shells will give them back calcium.
The eggs will give them protein.

They will love it.

That's what I do when I have too many. I hard boil the eggs, then mash them up shell and all and give them to the chickens.

Just don't trip on your way into the pen - you'll get trampled to death

I agree with all of the above but you may also want to try craigslist. You could post them and try to make a few bucks or maybe offer them to a needy family in your area.

When we get over run with eggs I bring them to the local shelters or food pantries. They appreciate them immensely.
