Hello. One of my mini hens went missing a couple of weeks ago. I thought she had been gotten by a hawk. This morning, she showed up in the barn. At the same time I saw her, I heard newly-hatched chicks peeping! I searched around and discovered that she had been setting on eggs in the soffit of the roof. About ten feet off the ground. Easy enough for her to get up there by flying up to the rafters and walking across, but I don't think the babies will be able to get out of the soffit.
Has anyone had babies in an inaccessible place like this? I don't know if I need to call the fire department to get them down, or if she will be able to coax them out. If she can coax them out, I don't know how they will get down.
Appreciate any ideas.

Make sure that there is plenty of bedding on the floor below. She will eventually coax them down and providing there is some litter on the floor below they will be absolutely fine. They are so lightweight at that age that it would be hard for them to injure themselves even from that height unless they hit a solid floor. If it is not somewhere that you can put bedding then a pile of cardboard or a bit of old carpet or a sheet suspended to break their fall. The broody knows what she is doing. She chose a very safe place to hatch them. I'm sure she will do an equally good job getting them down.

I’ve read about people moving them at night , set up a safer place for them then move mom and babies .... you could go up with a back pack on your front full of shavings ??

Good luck ❤️
