Curt Hanson only bred 3 different Asil into his line once every 8 years then 'bred it out.' He never used Boles.

An Andy Hightower cock, a Sonatol from LA, and the Hyderabad from Pakistan via London.

good info there. by 'bred it out' you mean breeding back to pure reynolds. the hyderabad, sonatol, and hightower were outcrosses. the saab indians were a good outcross for the pure reynolds. i will try to breed to the pure reynolds side now and should have some 7/8 this spring.

Oh, okay, I was told wrongly/differently. Are Sonatol's "grade type Asil," too, you guys?

i put a question out there on another site about feeding asil whole corn and the only person answered me was the asil breeder that i got mine from and he answered me in a pm. i don't think i will feed it straight but mix the corn and stretch the other feed. how do y'all feel about whole corn?

I feed only shelled corn between 12 weeks and the time I have to pen them up. Totally free-range, so they have bugs, grass and anything else they can catch. But in pens or on cords I do not feed shelled corn at all.

Hello all
Saladin you seem to know alot about Mr Curt H from Ohio. I do know that he and the Dr crossed many Asils to Shamo and other Orientals. But they did that for crosses for the pit only. It is my belief that they absolutely did not breed any of these back into there Asil pure lines.
However there Asils be it there Reds. Do contain M Reynolds blood and some Sonatol blood and Atkinson blood. How much of each. Only they could tell you. Then there is the Blacks. Which are Blends or Raja Mergh and Rampuri and a Thia Asil and 1 other line that I can not remember now.
And also the Hyderbads.
I have the Reds.
I have the Blacks.
I have Red and Hyderbad bred together.
And I also have Spangles which came out of the Blacks.
To keep an Asil type bird. You can not breed Brasilians or Thias or Shamos to them. They become taller and thinner. Just like the Saabs.
That is just my opinion from being in this sport. For many years.
If I can ever get a home computer again. I have many emails from Curt H. And can refresh my memory. And will be able to set alot of these stories straight.
Thank you for a page on the Asil.........Nick

But, "Asil type" is so varied. From short, stocky, bull-doggy Rezas to the big Kulang, that to my unexperienced eye, look something like Ganoi/Malay. And I see that certain of both are considered to indeed be the "pure Asil." IDK if that's right or wrong though.
